Ebola Prevention and information sessions to the local communities in Gambia, South Senegal and Guinea Bissau
The best way to contain Ebola is to prevent it and the African Development Organisation is uniquely positioned to do just that.
Our regional staff have been working with these communities, and are trusted partners who can get accurate prevention information to people who are living in a state of fear and anxiety about whether they can keep their families safe.
Our plan includes:
• Hold community awareness sessions and campaigns on how to prevent the transmission of the Ebola virus.
• Train health workers in effective infection control procedures, including the proper use of protective equipment and the isolation of those exposed.
• Set-up hand-washing stations at schools, health posts and other public facilities to help families maintain a level of basic hygiene that will help keep them safe.
It is essential that we act immediately to get vital, lifesaving information to children and families at risk. The countries affected by Ebola are among the poorest in the world, with fragile or non-existent public health systems that are ill equipped to reach the most vulnerable people with the most urgent prevention messages. Your help is needed to stop this terrible and frightening situation from becoming even worse.
